Deep Cleaning Nottingham | One-Off Deep Clean

A deep clean covers the annual jobs, not the weekly ones: inside the oven and fridge, limescale on taps and screens, grout, inside cupboards, behind and underneath furniture, skirting boards, door tops, light fittings and window interiors. It takes three to four times as long as a standard clean.

If you have a cleaner every week and the bathroom still has a grey tidemark in the grout, that is not a failing of your cleaner. Grout is not in a weekly clean and never was. A regular clean maintains a standard; a deep clean resets it.

What is included

Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time

Oven interior, racks, side runners, door glass and grill pan
Hob, including underneath the burner caps
Extractor hood and filter, degreased or replaced
Inside, on top of and underneath all cupboards
Fridge and freezer emptied, defrosted and washed including the seals
Washing machine drawer, door seal and filter

Limescale removed from taps, shower head, screen, tiles and grout
Shower head soaked or bagged with descaler
Grout scrubbed and mouldy sealant identified

High level dust: light fittings, door tops, picture rails, coving
Skirting boards by hand throughout
Behind and underneath furniture
Window interiors, sills, frames and the tracks they run in
Radiators, including between the fins and behind
Carpet edges, which a normal vacuum pass misses

What is not included

Decluttering. A deep clean cleans surfaces, and covered surfaces cannot be cleaned
Repair. Failed grout, a scratched shower screen and etched chrome stay as they are
Carpets, which are priced separately as hot water extraction

Clearing worktops, windowsills and floors before we arrive is the single biggest thing you can do to get value from the booking. If the grout has been bothering you for a year, say so when you book, because it changes how we allocate the time.

How a deep clean runs

Chemicals go on in the first five minutes

Oven cleaner on, racks into a bag or a bath with biological washing powder, extractor filter into the sink, descaler wrapped around the taps. Then we walk away from all of it and do something else. That waiting, running in parallel with other work, is where the hours are saved.

Cupboards one at a time

Emptying an entire kitchen at once produces a mess large enough to stop the job. One cupboard emptied, wiped including the back corners and the runners, dried, refilled, then the next.

High level before low

Light fittings, door tops, picture rails, coving, then skirting, then floors. Doing it the other way round means doing the floors twice.

The oven is finished, not started, at the end

Softened deposits scraped with a plastic scraper, never metal, then wiped repeatedly with clean water. Six or seven rinses is normal, because caustic residue left behind smokes on first use and reads as a job not done.

Carpets last, if they are booked

Everything above them drops dust onto them, so extraction happens after the deep clean rather than before. Booking them the other way round means paying for the carpets twice.

When to book it

Twice a year suits most homes: once in spring, when low sun makes the dust visible and windows can be opened for drying, and once in October or November before the house is sealed up for winter with the heating on. Avoid late December, when availability disappears and you have less time than you think.

What goes wrong, and how to avoid it

The mistakes below account for most of the disappointment in this kind of work, ours included. Several of them will save you money whether you hire us or not.

Cleaning the carpets first

Everything above them drops dust onto them. Carpets go last, after the high level dusting, or you pay for them twice.

Expecting cleaning to fix damage

Grout that has failed will not be restored. A scratched shower screen stays scratched, etched chrome stays etched, and glass pitted by years of hard water is permanently pitted. Cleaning removes what sits on a surface, not damage to the surface itself.

Leaving the surfaces covered

A deep clean cleans surfaces, and covered surfaces cannot be cleaned. Clearing worktops, windowsills and floors before we arrive is the single biggest thing you can do to get value from the booking.

Assuming one visit fixes years

A property that has never been deep cleaned may genuinely need two. We would rather say that when quoting than discover it halfway through and rush the second half.

How often should I have one?

Often not. A property that has never been deep cleaned may need two visits, and we would rather tell you that when quoting than discover it halfway through.

Is it the same as an end of tenancy clean?

The scope overlaps almost entirely, but the standard is different. A deep clean satisfies you. An end of tenancy clean has to satisfy an inventory clerk against a check-in report, and comes with a re-clean guarantee.

Do I need to be home?

No, though being present for the first fifteen minutes to point out what matters most to you genuinely helps.

How long before I can use the rooms?

Immediately, except carpets, which need two to six hours to dry.
