A regular clean maintains the standard your home is already at. It covers what gets dirty every week: kitchen surfaces, bathrooms, floors, dusting and bins. It is not a deep clean, and the difference matters, because almost every disappointment with a regular cleaner traces back to expecting the annual jobs inside a weekly visit.
Most households in Nottingham settle on fortnightly. Weekly makes sense for families, homes with pets, and anyone working long hours who wants the house to stay consistently reasonable rather than cycling between good and bad.
We do a lot of this work in West Bridgford, where large edwardian houses off musters road with two or three bathrooms and original tiled hallways. See domestic cleaning in West Bridgford, across Beeston or Hyson Green and NG7.
What is included

- Sink and taps cleaned and polished
- Hob and splashback exterior
- Appliance fronts
- Microwave interior
- Bin emptied and relined
- Floor swept and mopped
Bathrooms
- Toilet inside and out, including the seat, hinges and base
- Basin, taps and surround
- Bath and shower, including the screen
- Mirrors polished

Bedrooms and living areas
- Beds made, or changed if clean linen is left out
- Accessible surfaces dusted
- Mirrors and glass
- Vacuuming throughout
- Hard floors mopped
- Visible clutter tidied into sensible places
What is not included
- Oven interiors, inside the fridge and inside cupboards
- Limescale removal beyond a routine wipe, which needs contact time a maintenance visit does not have
- Grout scrubbing and high level dust
- Windows, inside or out
- Behind and under heavy furniture and appliances
- Anything needing a ladder beyond a small step, for insurance and safety reasons
Those are deep cleaning tasks. They are excluded because a two to three hour visit is genuinely full without them, and adding the oven would mean a clean oven and a dirty bathroom. Book a deep clean once or twice a year and the regular visits hold the line in between.
How long it takes
| Property | Our team | On your own |
|---|---|---|
| 1 bed flat | 2 hours | 2.5 hours |
| 2 bed | 2.5 to 3 hours | 3 to 3.5 hours |
| 3 bed | 3 to 3.5 hours | 4 hours |
| 4 bed | 4 hours | 5 hours |
| 4 bed with pets | 4.5 to 5 hours | 6 hours |
Add roughly half an hour per additional bathroom. Bathrooms consume more time per square metre than any other room, so a two bedroom flat with two bathrooms needs closer to three bedroom hours.
What domestic cleaning costs in Nottingham
Regular domestic cleaning, per visit, at a typical company rate. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
| Property | Typical per visit |
|---|---|
| 1 bed flat | £40 to £50 |
| 2 bed | £50 to £70 |
| 3 bed | £60 to £80 |
| 4 bed | £80 to £100 |
| 5 bed | £100 to £120 |
A fortnightly clean of a two bedroom home works out around £1,560 to £1,820 a year. Weekly is roughly double.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Regular domestic, per hour | £17 to £25 |
| Ironing, per hour | £14 to £20 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
How a regular clean runs
Top to bottom, floors last
Every room is worked high to low, so dust falls onto surfaces that have not been done yet, and floors come last. Cleaning floors before dusting means cleaning floors twice, and it is the single most common self-inflicted inefficiency in domestic cleaning.
Bathrooms get contact time, not pressure
Products go on first and are left while another room is done. Limescale and soap scum dissolve on a timescale, not under effort, so if anyone is scrubbing hard the product has not had long enough.
The kitchen in one pass
Worktops, hob, sink, appliance fronts, microwave interior, bin, then the floor on the way out. The sink is done last because it has been the dirty water reservoir throughout.
Same order every visit
A fixed sequence is what makes a clean repeatable. It is also why a cleaner who knows your house does a better job of it than a rotating pool ever will, whatever the specification says.
Ten minutes of your tidying is worth thirty of ours
Cleaners clean surfaces. A worktop covered in post is a worktop that will not be cleaned, and you are paying an hourly rate for someone to move your belongings. Clearing surfaces before we arrive converts directly into more actual cleaning.
When to book it
Start with a one-off deep clean if the house has a backlog, then begin the regular rota a week or two later. Asking a three hour maintenance visit to absorb a year of accumulated work sets everyone up to fail and makes every subsequent visit look disappointing by comparison.
Whoever turns up is directly employed by us, DBS-checked and reference-verified, which is not the same arrangement as most companies quoting against this. More on how we work on the about page, and the common pre-booking questions are on the FAQ page.

What goes wrong, and how to avoid it
The mistakes below account for most of the disappointment in this kind of work, ours included. Several of them will save you money whether you hire us or not.
Booking too few hours
The most common setup error by a distance. Two hours fortnightly on a three bedroom house is not a clean, it is a rush, and both sides spend three months quietly disappointed before someone cancels. Agree realistic hours at the start and adjust after a month.
Expecting the deep clean list inside maintenance hours
The oven, the fridge interior, inside cupboards, grout and high level dust are not in a regular clean and never were. If you have ever felt a cleaner does not do the proper jobs, this is almost always the explanation rather than a standards problem.
Starting from a backlog
Asking a three hour visit to absorb a year of accumulated work sets everyone up to fail, and it makes every subsequent visit look disappointing next to what you hoped for. Deep clean first, then maintain.
Saying nothing for four months
Specific feedback in the first fortnight gets fixed permanently and costs one sentence. Silence followed by a cancellation helps nobody, and the fix was usually trivial.

A very good cleaning services company. Paying attention to every detail of their work and have a very good human relationship. Highly recommended.
GHCS is a highly professional and world-class cleaning establishment. I highly recommend.
Amazing service. They went over and beyond my expectations.
Will you do my washing up?
Loading a dishwasher, usually yes. Hand washing a sink full of roasting pans, usually no, unless we have agreed it and allowed the time.
Do I need to be home?
No, and most of our regular customers are not. A key safe is the usual arrangement and the one that causes the least trouble.
Will it be the same cleaner every time?
That is what we aim for, because a cleaner who knows your home notices what has changed. If your regular cleaner is ill or on holiday we will tell you who is coming instead.
Do you bring your own products?
Yes, as standard. If anyone in the house has sensitivities, or you have surfaces that need something specific such as natural stone, tell us and we will use yours.
What if I am not happy with a visit?
Tell us within 48 hours and we will come back and put it right at no charge. Specific feedback in the first month is worth far more than silence followed by a cancellation.
