Deep Cleaning for West Bridgford homes
Period houses that have had the same annual jobs postponed for a few years running. Deep bay windows, sash tracks, picture rails and original cornicing all need a step ladder and time allocated to them rather than a hopeful wipe on the way past.
An annual reset in one of these period houses is really three jobs stacked together: the kitchen, the bathrooms, and everything above head height. Rushcliffe sits on hard water, so shower screens and tap bases in the newer ensuites carry scale that comes off with contact time rather than effort. The 1930s bathrooms have original tiling with grout that has gone grey rather than mouldy, and that scrubs back further than most people expect. Then there are the picture rails, coving and door tops in the villas off Musters Road, plus the tops of the tall fitted wardrobes in the semis. Quoting a Central Avenue flat and a five bedroom villa off the same set of assumptions is the mistake we most often have to unpick first.
West Bridgford sits in NG2, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. The housing here is mostly Edwardian villas off Musters Road, 1930s bay-fronted semis, and a growing number of flats around Central Avenue, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on West Bridgford deep cleaning jobs
Rear extensions are where the time goes in the houses that have been opened up. A glazed kitchen extension with a flat rooflight builds a film on the inside of the glass from cooking, and in about half of them that rooflight sits more or less over the hob, which makes it the dirtiest pane in the house and the one nobody has ever reached. Underneath, the radiator inside the front bay has years of dust felted between the fins. That gets a radiator brush and a vacuum before the floors are touched, because everything that comes out of it lands on the carpet.
How a West Bridgford deep cleaning job actually runs
A day here is planned as a fixed order rather than a list of rooms. Two cleaners start at opposite ends, one in the kitchen because it holds roughly two fifths of the hours, the other at the top of the house working down so nothing lands on floors already finished. Attic conversions add a storey that never appears in the room count, and their sloping ceilings put the high level work at chest height in one corner and out of reach in the next. Original layouts still put a hot water cylinder in an airing cupboard on the half landing, and emptying, wiping and restacking those shelves is an hour almost nobody budgets for. Wardrobes fitted into the chimney alcoves have to be cleared by you before we arrive or they stay shut. We also need a working socket on each floor for the steamer and somewhere sensible to fill and empty, so in a house with one downstairs tap we plan the water route before the first bucket rather than discovering it at eleven o'clock.
Who books it here
Large period houses with original tiled hallways, deep bay windows and more bathrooms than the room count suggests. Bathrooms drive the hours here more than bedrooms do.
We run West Bridgford on the same round as Sneinton, Nottingham City Centre and Ruddington.
What we check on every West Bridgford job
Cast iron bedroom fireplaces survive in a lot of these rooms, and the ash shelf and the register plate behind the cover hold soot that a damp cloth spreads rather than lifts, so they are vacuumed first and wiped second. Ceiling roses and the tops of picture rail brackets take a soft brush on a pole. In bathrooms we check the shower riser rail joint, the flush plate on a concealed cistern, the basin overflow slot, and the sealant line where the bath meets the tile, which we report as failed rather than scrub when the mould is under it rather than on it. Kitchen items are the fridge drip channel behind the salad drawer, the housing the detergent drawer slides into, the spray arm holes in the dishwasher, and the two filters in the hood, because the grease filter washes and the carbon one does not.
What the deep cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Dishwasher filter and spray arms
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Fridge and freezer emptied, defrosted and washed including the seals
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Extractor hood and filter, degreased or replaced
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Oven interior, racks, side runners, door glass and grill pan
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What deep cleaning costs in West Bridgford
A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
| Property | Typical one-off |
|---|---|
| Studio | £110 to £180 |
| 1 bedroom | £135 to £220 |
| 2 bedrooms | £165 to £280 |
| 3 bedrooms | £220 to £350 |
| 4 bedrooms | £300 to £460 |
Our cost research puts a one-off deep clean of a two to three bedroom home at £165 to £350, which is the anchor the rest of this table is built around.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Single oven deep clean | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker | £80 to £130 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
How long does a four bedroom villa with three bathrooms take?
Realistically a full day with two cleaners, and longer if the oven has gone more than a year. Bathrooms drive the estimate far more than bedrooms do, and the downstairs cloakroom counts as one. If the grout has been bothering you, say so when you book, because scrubbing grout properly across three bathrooms is an hour on its own.
When in the year is the best time to book one here?
Spring or October, and away from the Test dates if you are on the streets near the ground. A deep clean means doors and windows open for drying and a van parked nearby for several hours, neither of which is realistic when the roads around Trent Bridge are full. We move those slots when the fixture list is published.
Can the work be split across two days instead of one long one?
Yes, and in a house on three or four floors it often works better. The usual split is the kitchen and bathrooms on one day and everything above the ground floor on the other, because those are the two halves that do not interrupt each other. What we avoid is splitting a single floor, since the high level dust from an unfinished ceiling lands on a floor already done and you pay for it twice.
Do we need to empty the airing cupboard and the fitted wardrobes?
Yes, if you want them cleaned. A deep clean cleans surfaces, and a shelf under towels or a wardrobe base under shoes is not a surface we can reach. Airing cupboard shelves and alcove wardrobes are the two places in these houses that hold the most and get looked at the least, so clearing them the night before turns a skipped item into a done one at no extra cost.
Do you cover the whole of West Bridgford?
Yes, all of NG2 and the surrounding streets, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does deep cleaning cost in West Bridgford?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start deep cleaning in West Bridgford?
Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. Residents' parking on the roads off Musters Road and Melton Road, and we group West Bridgford with Sneinton, Nottingham City Centre and Ruddington on the rota.
