Deep Cleaning for Wollaton homes
Larger family houses where a deep clean is a full day rather than a morning. Conservatory glass, bay window tracks and behind the bigger furniture are the parts that never get done otherwise.
A deep clean here reaches the parts of a 1930s semi that a weekly visit never sees, and in Wollaton most of those are architectural. The bay has a boxed sill with a radiator tucked under it and a pelmet or curtain pole above, so the room needs step ladder time top and bottom. Picture rails and coving run round the main rooms. Where the original windows were swapped for uPVC, the openings left wide plaster reveals that hold dust in a way a flush modern reveal does not. Then there is the conservatory or garden room, which is a whole extra room of glass, frame, trickle vent and floor that is not in a standard house of this size.
Wollaton sits in NG8, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly 1930s bay-fronted semis and detached houses, with larger properties backing onto the park, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Wollaton deep cleaning jobs
Conservatories are seasonal work and the season matters. In July a glass or polycarbonate roofed room can be well over thirty degrees by mid morning, and anything you spray on the inside of the glazing dries before the squeegee arrives, leaving streaks that look worse than the dirt did. In midwinter the same room runs cold and damp and grows a green bloom in the glazing bar channels. Early morning in spring or autumn is the honest answer, and we say so rather than booking a conservatory into a July afternoon.
How a Wollaton deep cleaning job actually runs
A deep clean on a four bedroom house here is a full day and usually two people, and the order of work matters more than it does in a flat. We start upstairs at the back and move forward and down, so the last thing done is the hall floor and the mat inside the front door, and a day of dislodged dust never crosses a finished room. One bathroom stays usable until late in the day when the house is occupied while we work, which it often is. Services are straightforward: there is an outside tap on nearly every property and a socket in the garage or the utility, so leads and hoses do not have to run through the middle of the house. The bookings cluster in two places. Late November and early December for people who are hosting, and again in the school holidays, when the house is empty for a week and a day of disruption costs nobody anything. February is the awkward month, because the house is shut up, the heating is on and everything takes noticeably longer to dry.
Who books it here
Family homes with conservatories and a lot of glass, so interior windows and conservatory roofs come up more here than anywhere else we work.
We run Wollaton on the same round as Bilborough, Beeston and The Park Estate.
What we check on every Wollaton job
What separates a deep clean in one of these houses from a deep clean anywhere else is mostly built-in joinery. The alcove cupboards either side of the chimney breast have never been emptied by anybody, and the ball catches on the doors are packed with fluff. A serving hatch between kitchen and dining room has a runner channel and two sliding panels that lift and tilt out, and that channel is the dirtiest few inches in the room. The airing cupboard has slatted shelves, so everything stored on them has been sitting over a gap that drops dust to the cupboard floor. The larder, where it survives, has a cold shelf of slate or terrazzo, and limescale remover etches either of those permanently, so it takes a neutral clean and nothing acidic. The loft hatch surround sheds insulation fibre every time it is opened, which is why it is done before the landing rather than after.
What the deep cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Bathrooms: Grout scrubbed and mouldy sealant identified
- Everywhere else: Behind and underneath furniture
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Hob, including underneath the burner caps
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Dishwasher filter and spray arms
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Wollaton property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 8.
What deep cleaning costs in Wollaton
A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
| Property | Typical one-off |
|---|---|
| Studio | £110 to £180 |
| 1 bedroom | £135 to £220 |
| 2 bedrooms | £165 to £280 |
| 3 bedrooms | £220 to £350 |
| 4 bedrooms | £300 to £460 |
Our cost research puts a one-off deep clean of a two to three bedroom home at £165 to £350, which is the anchor the rest of this table is built around.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Single oven deep clean | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker | £80 to £130 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Should the conservatory be done in the same visit as the house?
It can be, but price and time it as an extra room rather than assuming it is included. A Wollaton conservatory adds glass on three sides, a frame, vents, a floor and usually furniture, which is comfortably an extra hour or two on a deep clean. We also try to do it first thing, because a sunny conservatory in the afternoon streaks no matter how good the method is.
Is the parquet floor part of a deep clean?
It is cleaned, not restored. A deep clean gets the block floor properly free of grit, cleans the edges and the perimeter where a vacuum normally misses, and wipes it with a wood safe product. What it will not do is remove old wax build up or bring back a floor that has been worn through in the traffic line, both of which are sanding and refinishing work for a flooring specialist.
There is an old hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard. Does that get cleaned?
The cupboard does. The cylinder gets wiped where it can be reached safely and nothing more. Shelves come out, the cupboard floor is vacuumed and the slats are done individually. We will not move a foam lagged cylinder, disturb pipework or go near an immersion element. If the lagging is split and shedding fibres we will tell you, because that is a plumber's job rather than something to clean around once a year.
Do the alcove cupboards and the serving hatch come as standard?
The hatch does, since it is a fixture with a channel that collects crumbs and cooking grease from both sides. The alcove cupboards get their interiors done if you empty them first. A deep clean cleans surfaces, and a cupboard packed with board games is one we can only clean the front of. Put the contents on the dining table the night before and it is all done inside the visit you have already booked.
Do you cover the whole of Wollaton?
Yes, all of NG8 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does deep cleaning cost in Wollaton?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start deep cleaning in Wollaton?
Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. Drives on most properties, and we group Wollaton with Bilborough, Beeston and The Park Estate on the rota.
