Deep Cleaning for Hucknall homes
Older stock near the centre with solid walls and winter condensation, and new estates where the issue is a sealed house with filters nobody has changed. Different jobs, same booking.
Which half of Hucknall you are in decides what a deep clean is actually for. In the older terraces the annual jobs include things that have not existed in new housing for decades: a chimney breast capped rather than sealed that drops soot dust onto whatever sits below it, original hearths, and mould in bathroom sealant that needs identifying as failed rather than scrubbing for another hour. On the estates toward the bypass, a house three years old already has a backlog, and it is not the one people expect. The oven and the shower screen are usually fine. What has never been touched is the ventilation, the window tracks and the tops of the new units.
Hucknall sits in NG15, under Ashfield District Council. The housing here is mostly former mining town housing, terraces near the centre and postwar estates around them, with new development toward the bypass, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Hucknall deep cleaning jobs
Newly built kitchens carry a specific one. The units go in before the floor is finished in most fit outs, so there is a kick board void that has been collecting since handover, and the plinths clip rather than screw so they come off easily. Behind them we still find plaster dust and offcuts three or four years on. It takes twenty minutes and it is the single most satisfying part of a first deep clean in a new house, mostly because nobody knew the space was there.
How a Hucknall deep cleaning job actually runs
A deep clean here is planned around dwell time rather than around room order, because the two jobs that take longest both need to sit and work. The shower head comes off into a descaler bath in the first twenty minutes, the oven racks go into a soak tray at the same time, and the high level work happens while both of those are doing their job unattended. In a centre terrace the clock is set by the kitchen and the bathroom rather than by the number of bedrooms: two rooms down, two up and a bathroom fitted into the back addition is a full day once the units are emptied and the tiling is treated properly. On the newer estates the room count is higher and each room is quicker, but a three storey plot adds a second stair run and a top floor nobody has dusted above head height since they moved in. Furniture gets moved and put back the same day, so what is too heavy or too fragile to shift is agreed beforehand, particularly wardrobes standing on a floating floor.
Who books it here
The northern end of our area, reached on the same tram line we live on. Regular domestic work and a good deal of after builders cleaning on the newer estates.
We run Hucknall on the same round as Bulwell, Arnold and New Basford.
What we check on every Hucknall job
In the bathroom the bath panel unclips, so the void behind it is cleared rather than assumed empty. The shower riser rail comes apart at the bracket, where scale hides under the clamp, and the basin and bath overflows are flushed through, since that is where the smell people blame on the drain actually starts. Grout gets a dedicated pass at the tap end, and the towel rail valves and the pipe tails behind the pan are done by hand. In the kitchen the fridge is pulled forward, the drip channel at the back of the salad drawer cleared and the condenser coil brushed, and the cooker hood cowl checked where the duct passes through the wall. The washing machine drum is run empty and hot with a cleaner in it once the drawer housing has been out. Upstairs, wardrobe tops, the loft hatch frame and the ends of curtain tracks carry dust a weekly visit never reaches.
What the deep cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Fridge and freezer emptied, defrosted and washed including the seals
- Everywhere else: Behind and underneath furniture
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Sink, taps, plughole and overflow descaled
- Everywhere else: Carpet edges, which a normal vacuum pass misses
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Hucknall property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 8.
What deep cleaning costs in Hucknall
A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
| Property | Typical one-off |
|---|---|
| Studio | £110 to £180 |
| 1 bedroom | £135 to £220 |
| 2 bedrooms | £165 to £280 |
| 3 bedrooms | £220 to £350 |
| 4 bedrooms | £300 to £460 |
Our cost research puts a one-off deep clean of a two to three bedroom home at £165 to £350, which is the anchor the rest of this table is built around.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Single oven deep clean | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker | £80 to £130 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
The house smells damp. Will a deep clean fix it?
It will help and it may not settle it. If the smell is soft furnishings and a neglected bathroom, then yes. If it is a solid wall staying cold all winter or a ventilation system that has never run properly, cleaning treats the symptom. We will tell you which we think it is rather than selling you a second visit.
Our house is only a few years old. Is a deep clean worth it?
Usually yes, for different reasons than in an older house. New properties hide construction residue where a normal clean never reaches: window tracks, trickle vents, kick board voids and the tops of wall units. None of it shows day to day, and all of it turns up the first time somebody actually looks behind things.
We have a two bedroom terrace and one small bathroom. Why does a deep clean still take most of a day?
Because the time goes into the kitchen and the bathroom, not the bedrooms. Emptying and cleaning inside every unit, the oven, the hob and the extractor is roughly forty per cent of the visit on its own, and descaling in a hard water area needs contact time that cannot be rushed. A small property has fewer rooms but the same fittings, so the hours barely move down with the room count.
Does a three storey house on the new estate change how the day is planned?
Yes, mainly in how the water and equipment move. Two stair runs mean everything is carried twice, so we work the top floor first while people and kit are fresh and finish at ground level, which also stops dust dropping onto rooms already finished. The top floor shower room usually holds the worst of the scale, since it is used daily and aired least, so it gets started early and returned to later.
Do you cover the whole of Hucknall?
Yes, all of NG15 and the surrounding streets, under Ashfield District Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does deep cleaning cost in Hucknall?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start deep cleaning in Hucknall?
Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. Good, and reachable on the same tram line that runs past our base, and we group Hucknall with Bulwell, Arnold and New Basford on the rota.
