Deep Cleaning for Aspley homes
The oven is the single most common reason someone in Aspley rings us for the first time. Two hours of it if it has waited a year, most of that waiting for caustic cleaner rather than scrubbing.
A deep clean in Aspley starts at the cooker and finishes behind the units. These kitchens are the original 1930s footprint with newer units dropped into it, and a modern run almost never fits a pre-war wall exactly, so there is an inch or two of gap at each end and along the back that has not been cleared since fitting day. The void beside a freestanding cooker is the same story. Add an oven that has been left the better part of a year, which is the usual reason someone in this area picks up the phone in the first place, and roughly half the booked hours belong to one room before the bathroom has been touched.
Aspley sits in NG8, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly 1930s council-built semis and later infill, most with generous gardens and original layouts, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Aspley deep cleaning jobs
The cooker comes forward on a board rather than being dragged, because the floor underneath is often the original screed with vinyl laid straight over it and the feet cut through. What comes out of that side gap is a compacted layer of fat, crumbs and dropped items rather than loose dust, so it is scraped and lifted rather than vacuumed. Tell us whether the plinth clips off. A fair number of the kitchens fitted here have the plinth siliconed down, and where that is the case it stays where it is.
How a Aspley deep cleaning job actually runs
Half of a deep clean here happens while the kitchen is doing nothing. Caustic goes into the oven, the racks go into a bag, descaler is wrapped round the taps, and then that room is left alone for a couple of hours while the rest of the annual list gets done upstairs. The bathrooms in the unaltered houses are small, boxed in and often on the shaded elevation, so limescale and the sealant line take the bulk of that block. Nottingham sits on the hard end of the water scale, and a shower fitted over the bath in one of these rooms will have scaled the screen hinge and the head at the same steady rate for years without anyone registering it, because it happens evenly rather than in patches and there is never a day it looks suddenly worse. The airing cupboard is the item nobody thinks of as cleanable. Most still hold a lagged hot water cylinder on slatted shelves, and those slats carry years of lint that drops onto clean towels every time the door swings.
Who books it here
Solid, uncomplicated houses. The common jobs are a fortnightly clean and a proper deep clean once a year, usually starting with an oven that has waited too long.
We run Aspley on the same round as Bilborough, Bulwell and Hyson Green.
What we check on every Aspley job
Named jobs on the upstairs half: the bath panel comes off where it is screwed rather than siliconed, and the strip of floor behind it is cleaned and dried before it goes back. The sealant line is assessed rather than attacked, because mould growing inside failed silicone will not bleach out and replacing it is a different trade. The screen hinge and the shower head are bagged with descaler and left, not scrubbed. Upstairs doors are commonly the original four panel type, and the mouldings around each panel and the architrave hold dust that a flat wipe passes straight over, so those are brushed out first. Slatted shelves come out of the airing cupboard where they lift, and the cylinder jacket is vacuumed rather than wiped. The loft hatch frame is done last, since opening it drops insulation fibre onto everything underneath.
What the deep cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Everywhere else: Window interiors, sills, frames and the tracks they run in
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Inside, on top of and underneath all cupboards
- Bathrooms: Shower head soaked or bagged with descaler
- Everywhere else: Behind and underneath furniture
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What deep cleaning costs in Aspley
A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
| Property | Typical one-off |
|---|---|
| Studio | £110 to £180 |
| 1 bedroom | £135 to £220 |
| 2 bedrooms | £165 to £280 |
| 3 bedrooms | £220 to £350 |
| 4 bedrooms | £300 to £460 |
Our cost research puts a one-off deep clean of a two to three bedroom home at £165 to £350, which is the anchor the rest of this table is built around.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Single oven deep clean | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker | £80 to £130 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Can you get behind the kitchen units without unfitting them?
As far as the gap allows, using thin tools and a crevice attachment rather than brute force. On these original footprints the gap is usually wide enough to reach the worst of it. Where a run has been sealed tight against the wall, we will say so rather than claim we have cleaned somewhere no one can physically reach.
The chimney was used for solid fuel years ago. Does that change the deep clean?
It adds time. Soot is fine, oily and travels, so it sits in the alcoves either side of the breast, along the picture rail line and on the back of anything hung on that wall. It smears if you go at it wet first, so it is vacuumed off dry with a soft brush before any cleaner appears.
Should the airing cupboard be emptied before you arrive?
Yes, and it is one of the few places worth doing in advance. The towels and bedding have to come out to reach the slats and the cylinder, and if we do it the linen ends up stacked on a bed while we work. Empty it the night before and the whole cupboard takes a fraction of the time. Tell us if the immersion has been on, because a hot cylinder is uncomfortable to work around and we would rather come to a cold one.
Why start upstairs when the oven is the reason we called?
Because the oven is mostly waiting rather than working. Caustic needs contact time to soften baked carbon, and standing next to it achieves nothing, so those hours are spent on the bathroom, the skirting and the high level work instead. We come back down to finish the oven once the deposits lift with a plastic scraper. If we did the kitchen end to end first you would pay for the same total hours and get less done elsewhere.
Do you cover the whole of Aspley?
Yes, all of NG8 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does deep cleaning cost in Aspley?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start deep cleaning in Aspley?
Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. Straightforward, with on-street parking and drives on many properties, and we group Aspley with Bilborough, Bulwell and Hyson Green on the rota.
