Domestic Cleaning for Bulwell homes

Terraces around the market place and postwar estates toward Rise Park, on a standard fortnightly rota. Market days fill the centre, so we work the residential streets around it.

There are two rounds in Bulwell and they behave nothing alike. The terraces around the market place open straight off the pavement into the living room, with no hall and no porch, so the street is separated from the carpet by one doormat and a step. The postwar semis toward Rise Park have a hall, a drive and a garden, and they wear the way any estate house does. The terrace half also has a timing problem the estate half does not. On market days the centre fills from early morning and there is nowhere to stop within carrying distance, so those visits get scheduled around the market rather than through it.

Bulwell sits in NG6, under Nottingham City Council. Domestic cleaning across the estates, and small commercial premises around the market place and above the shops, which is unusual for a residential area.

What we run into on Bulwell domestic cleaning jobs

In a front door terrace everything comes in and out through the living room, including our kit, so the order of work is reversed. The living room gets done last rather than first, and the machine sits on a mat inside the door instead of being carried back and forth. The other recurring item is the step and the reveal either side of the front door, which take road spray from a street with no verge and turn a pale doorstep grey within a fortnight. That is a two minute job that changes how the whole front reads.

How a Bulwell domestic cleaning job actually runs

The regular round here is built around two things that have nothing to do with cleaning: collection day and the market. Terraced streets near the centre have shared rear entries, and on collection morning every wheelie bin on the row stands out in them, so an entry we would normally walk equipment down is blocked. Those addresses take a slot on any other weekday. The estate houses further out have drives, side gates and gardens, which makes them the obvious place to put a visit on a morning when the centre is full. Newer flats along the tram corridor sit between the two: fob entry, one lift or one stair, and a communal bin store that belongs to the managing agent rather than to your clean. All of that gets settled before the first visit rather than negotiated on a doorstep. In a small terrace with no spare cupboard the kit stays in one place for the whole visit; in a semi it travels room to room with the cleaner. Through autumn and winter the estates walk in more mud from verges and the woodland edge than the centre does.

Who books it here

On the practical side: Market days fill the centre. We work early or late around it for the commercial jobs.

We run Bulwell on the same round as New Basford, Aspley and Hucknall.

What we check on every Bulwell job

On a maintenance visit the doormat is lifted and both faces vacuumed, because the abrasive material that wears a pile sits underneath it rather than on top. In the terraces the recurring items are the meter cupboard door in the front room, the slot between the cooker and the run of units, which in a narrow galley kitchen is barely a hand wide and collects everything dropped near it, and the wall extractor over the hob, which vents straight through the back wall. In the estate houses it is the back door glass, the utility end of the kitchen and the airing cupboard door, opened and closed constantly and wiped almost never. Window handles, window keys, light switches and the stair handrail are treated as touch points in both. Anything that needs contact time, scale on a shower screen, grout, the inside of an oven, is reported rather than half attempted, because a maintenance visit does not have the dwell time for it.

What the domestic cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Bathrooms: Basin, taps and surround
  • Bedrooms and living areas: Beds made, or changed if clean linen is left out
  • Bedrooms and living areas: Visible clutter tidied into sensible places
  • Kitchen: Microwave interior

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full domestic cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

The cleaner who comes to your Bulwell property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 8.

What domestic cleaning costs in Bulwell

Regular domestic cleaning, per visit, at a typical company rate. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

PropertyTypical per visit
1 bed flat£40 to £50
2 bed£50 to £70
3 bed£60 to £80
4 bed£80 to £100
5 bed£100 to £120

A fortnightly clean of a two bedroom home works out around £1,560 to £1,820 a year. Weekly is roughly double.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Regular domestic, per hour£17 to £25
Ironing, per hour£14 to £20

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Ring us on 07438 843980, or see the full service page.

Can you clean on a market day?

In the terraces near the market place we would rather not, and it is a scheduling issue rather than an extra charge. Market mornings fill the centre and the nearest space can be several streets away, which turns a short visit into a long one. Toward Rise Park it makes no difference at all, so those slots stay wherever they suit you.

There is nowhere to park on my street. Does that change the price?

No. Terraced streets with permit or resident pressure are normal here and the price is the same as anywhere on the round. What it does change is the equipment we bring, because we carry in what is needed in one trip rather than going back to the van, so it helps to know before the first visit which end of the street you are on.

Our bins go out in the shared entry. Does that affect which day you come?

It can, and it is easier to plan around than to work around. When the row puts its bins out, the entry is effectively closed for the morning, so we would put your visit on a different weekday rather than carry everything through the house instead. If the collection day changes, tell us and we will move the slot. It costs nothing either way, it just needs to be known once rather than rediscovered every fortnight.

Do you clean the communal stairs and bin store in the newer blocks?

No, those belong to the managing agent and are usually already under a separate contract, so we would be cleaning something twice and charging you for it. Our scope stops at your front door unless the freeholder appoints us directly. If the communal areas are genuinely being neglected, that is a matter for the managing agent, and we are happy to quote them separately for the stair and the entrance.

Do you cover the whole of Bulwell?

Yes, all of NG6 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does domestic cleaning cost in Bulwell?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the bathroom count more than the bedroom count, how often we come, and whether there are pets. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start domestic cleaning in Bulwell?

Usually within a week for a regular rota, and we will tell you the day rather than a window. Market days fill the centre, and we group Bulwell with New Basford, Aspley and Hucknall on the rota.
