Office & Commercial Cleaning for Carlton homes

Small commercial premises along Carlton Hill and around Carlton Square, mostly retail-adjacent with hard floors and a washroom. Trading hours set the schedule rather than the other way round.

Commercial premises in Carlton sit in two places: the units around Carlton Square with their own parking and service access, and the run of shops, takeaways, salons and first floor offices along Carlton Hill. They want different contracts. A unit on the square can take a floor machine in through a back door at almost any hour, so the hard floor work that actually keeps a retail unit looking right is easy to schedule. A premises on the hill is loading from a bus route, with restrictions on when a van can sit outside, so the same work gets split into smaller visits and the machine work planned for a specific evening.

Carlton sits in NG4, under Gedling Borough Council. On the practical side: On-street, usually available. Carlton Hill itself is busy, so we work from the side roads.

What we run into on Carlton office & commercial cleaning jobs

Hard floor is the deciding factor in most Carlton units, and mopping is not floor cleaning. A vinyl or safety floor that has been mopped for two years carries a grey film of detergent and soil that no amount of further mopping lifts, because a mop redistributes whatever it picks up. It needs a scrubber dryer, or a rotary with a pad and a wet vacuum, scheduled and priced at contract stage rather than requested once somebody notices. Food units also need the coving joint where the floor meets the wall, which a mop head never reaches.

How a Carlton office & commercial cleaning job actually runs

Most of the offices we quote along the hill sit on a first floor above a shop, reached from a street door by a straight stair with no window on it, and the consequences are all practical. There is nowhere to keep equipment, since suites like these have no cleaner's cupboard and often no sink other than the washroom basin, so either a locked caddy stays on site or the vacuum comes up the stairs and back down every single visit. There is no bin store either, so trade waste goes out for a timed collection and cannot sit on the pavement overnight, which fixes the end of the visit rather than the start. The washroom is frequently on the half landing and shared with the tenant next door, which needs saying out loud when the specification is written, because a shared washroom cleaned by one contractor and used by two businesses is the thing we are most often called in to sort out. Around the square, with a service yard and a back door, almost none of that applies.

Who books it here

The local reference points are Carlton Hill, Colwick Woods and Carlton Square, which is usually enough for us to find a property without a postcode lookup.

We run Carlton on the same round as Mapperley, Sneinton and Arnold.

What we check on every Carlton job

Lines that earn their place in a small premises here. Entrance matting, because a door opening straight onto a pavement over a bus route brings in more grit than any other single source, and matting that has never been lifted holds grit rather than trapping it. Stair edges and nosings, which a vacuum head will not reach. The handrail and the push plate on the street door. Washroom consumables counted and logged, so a cubicle does not run dry on a Monday morning. The tap, the kettle base and the fridge seal in a two person kitchen. The cupboard under the sink, where the waste bags live. We take waste to your collection point and leave it there, because commercial waste needs your own transfer arrangement and a cleaner walking it away creates a paperwork problem rather than solving one. Machine floor dates go into the schedule with a named month at contract stage.

What the office & commercial cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Every visit: Reception, entrance glass and meeting rooms reset
  • Weekly or fortnightly: Stairwells including handrails and risers
  • Periodic, scheduled and priced up front: Entrance matting deep cleaned or replaced
  • Every visit: Floors vacuumed and hard floors mopped

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full office & commercial cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

The cleaner who comes to your Carlton property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 8.

What office & commercial cleaning costs in Carlton

Contract office cleaning, weekly cost on a standard specification out of hours. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

PropertyTypical per week
Up to 10 desks, 2 to 3 visits£60 to £120
10 to 25 desks, 3 to 5 visits£120 to £280
25 to 50 desks, 5 visits£280 to £520
50 to 100 desks, 5 visits£520 to £950
100+ desks£950 and up

Washroom count moves a quote more than desk count does. Two extra cubicles change the hours more than twenty extra desks.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Office cleaning, per hour£15 to £28
Carpet deep clean£1.50 to £3.50 per m²
Hard floor strip and reseal£3 to £7 per m²
Washroom deep clean and descale£150 to £400

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Questions

Office & Commercial Cleaningin Carlton

Ring us on 07438 843980, or see the full service page.

Can you clean our unit outside trading hours?

Yes, and around the square it is straightforward because of the rear access and the parking. On Carlton Hill it depends on the loading restriction outside your door and whether the block alarms as one. Tell us both when you enquire, because they set the visit time, and a specification written for the wrong hour costs more to fix later than to get right now.

We are a salon rather than an office. Does that change the clean?

Yes. Hair reaches places an office specification never mentions: floor edges, chair bases, backwash units and the trap. Colour products stain flooring and basins if they are left, and there is a chemical waste question that belongs in your own risk assessment. We specify salons separately, with the floor work at a higher frequency than an office of the same size.

Who is responsible for the stairs up from the street?

Whoever the lease says, and it is worth checking before the specification is written rather than after. In these conversions the stair is usually common parts and the landlord's responsibility, which in practice means nobody cleans it. If you want it in your contract we will price it as its own line, because a bare timber or vinyl stair with no daylight on it needs different work from an office floor.

We are above a takeaway. Does that change the specification?

Yes. Warm, grease laden air rises through the floor void and settles as a film on internal glass, blinds, soft seating and carpet, so those move to a higher frequency than an office of the same size would normally need. The extract ducting itself is a landlord and specialist matter, not ours. What we can do is stop the film building to the point where it starts holding dust and smelling.

Do you cover the whole of Carlton?

Yes, all of NG4 and the surrounding streets, under Gedling Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does office & commercial cleaning cost in Carlton?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of washrooms, the visit frequency, the flooring type and whether we supply consumables. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start office & commercial cleaning in Carlton?

Allow four to six weeks if you are changing contractor, because TUPE, keys and site induction all take real time. On-street, usually available, and we group Carlton with Mapperley, Sneinton and Arnold on the rota.
