Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning for Keyworth homes

Family homes some distance from the nearest hard surface, so what gets walked in is mud and grit rather than city dust. Both are abrasive, and both come out with proper extraction rather than a vacuum.

Carpet wear in Keyworth is decided at the front door rather than by how many people live in the house. What comes in is field grit, clay off the bridleways and grazing land, and the fine sandy soil that blows off arable ground in a dry spell. All of it is abrasive, and abrasion is what actually kills a carpet, because every footstep grinds those particles against the fibre until the tips are cut rather than merely dirty. The consequence shows up in a very specific place: the run from the front door through to the kitchen, and the top three and bottom three treads of the stairs. Dog owners walking the Wolds add wet clay to that, which sets hard into the pile once the heating comes on.

Keyworth sits in NG12, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. The housing here is mostly a village core with older cottages, surrounded by 1960s and 1970s estates and more recent development, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.

What we run into on Keyworth carpet & upholstery cleaning jobs

The 1960s and 1970s houses commonly still have their original gripper and a thin foam underlay beneath a much newer carpet. Thin underlay changes the extraction arithmetic. There is less depth for water to sit in, so drying is quicker, but there is also less cushioning, so grit reaches the backing sooner. Where a room has been recarpeted straight over the old foam, it crumbles into a fine yellow dust that lifts through the seams. If that is what you can see at the edges, cleaning the surface does not deal with it.

How a Keyworth carpet & upholstery cleaning job actually runs

Bookings bunch either side of winter and the two ends want different things. Late autumn work is about lifting the summer's dry soil out before the heating comes on and bakes it into the pile. February and March is the reverse, dealing with clay and road salt that have been ground in daily since October. In these houses the hall, stairs and landing are usually one continuous fitting, so they get cleaned as a single run from the landing down rather than as three separate jobs, and that run on its own often holds more soil than the whole of the ground floor. With nobody home the machine comes in through the front door and stays put, hoses run back to a van on the drive, and that is why access here is simpler than almost anywhere else we work. Cold is the real problem rather than water. A pre-spray needs dwell time at temperature and an unheated hall in February will not give it, so we ask for the heating to have been on a couple of hours before we arrive rather than switched on as we walk in.

Who books it here

Commuter households booking fortnightly cleans that happen while nobody is home, plus deep cleans booked in spring and ahead of Christmas.

We run Keyworth on the same round as Ruddington, West Bridgford and Clifton.

What we check on every Keyworth job

Before anything wet goes down, the fibre is identified, because a wool twist and a polypropylene loop take different chemistry and dry at different speeds, and a colourfast test goes somewhere hidden such as the base of a wardrobe or behind a door. Then the specifics of this soil. Clay wicks, so a mark lifted at the surface can rise again overnight out of the backing, and where that looks likely we say so beforehand rather than afterwards. Steel gripper under a threshold rusts where wet mud has sat against it, and the brown line that leaves is not dirt and will not come out. Urine is checked at the foot of the stairs and along the skirting rather than in the middle of a room, because that is where it goes. On upholstery the care code is read first, and a sofa a wet dog uses is checked at the seams and under the cushion platform, where the hair and the smell actually sit.

What the carpet & upholstery cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Also covered: Pet urine, with enzymatic pre-treatment and extra dwell time
  • Upholstery: Vacuumed with an upholstery tool, including down the sides and under cushions
  • Carpets: Thorough dry vacuum first
  • Upholstery: Cleaned panel by panel so no drying edge shows

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full carpet & upholstery cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

What carpet & upholstery cleaning costs in Keyworth

Hot water extraction, priced by room or by property. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

PropertyTypical one-off
Minimum call-out£60 to £90
Single room£35 to £60
Hallway, stairs and landing£45 to £85
2 bed flat, throughout£75 to £175
3 bed house, throughout£140 to £260
4 bed house, throughout£200 to £350

Stairs are priced separately from rooms because they are slow and cannot be done with a standard wand.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Upholstery, 3 seat sofa£45 to £90
Mattress clean£30 to £60
Pet urine treatment, per spot£15 to £40
Rug, per square metre£8 to £20

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Carpet & Upholstery Cleaningin Keyworth

Ring us on 07438 843980, or see the full service page.

Can you clean the carpets while we are at work?

Yes, and it is what usually happens here. Leave the heating on a low background setting and internal doors open rather than shut, and it will be dry by the time you are back. What we cannot do in an empty house is open windows and leave them open, so the airflow has to come from the heating instead.

Will you move the beds and sofas?

The large pieces yes, with protective tabs under the legs before anything goes back. Small items are better cleared by you the night before, because in an empty house we would have to decide where an ornament belongs and we would rather not guess. Emptying wardrobes is not needed, but a clear floor under them helps.

We walk a dog through mud all winter. Is there any point cleaning before spring?

Yes, and the reason is wear rather than looks. Grit and clay cut the fibre tips every time anyone walks on them, so a carpet left to carry a winter's worth loses depth it never gets back. One clean around the turn of the year and one in early spring costs less over the life of the carpet than replacing a hall run early. A deep barrier mat and a towel kept by the door does more between visits than anything we can sell you.

We cannot do the whole house. Which rooms are actually worth doing?

The traffic run first, every time: front door through the hall, up the stairs and across the landing, plus whichever route reaches the kitchen. That is where the abrasive material is and where the visible difference is. The main living room next, especially under and in front of seating. Bedrooms come last and often do not need it at all, because a bedroom carpet gets sock traffic rather than grit and ages far more slowly than the hall it opens onto.

Do you cover the whole of Keyworth?

Yes, all of NG12 and the surrounding streets, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does carpet & upholstery cleaning cost in Keyworth?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the room count, whether stairs are included, the fibre type, and whether there is pet urine to treat. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start carpet & upholstery cleaning in Keyworth?

Within a week usually, and we would rather do it alongside a deep clean than as a separate visit. Drives on most properties, and we group Keyworth with Ruddington, West Bridgford and Clifton on the rota.
