Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning for Chilwell homes
Newer estates with pale carpet through open-plan ground floors, which shows traffic lanes long before it looks dirty. Annual extraction lifts the bonded soil a vacuum leaves behind, which is what causes the dulling.
Attenborough Nature Reserve is why we clean more carpets in Chilwell than the housing stock alone would predict. The paths are gravel and lakeside silt, and the silt is fine, pale and slightly greasy, so it does not lift out the way dry grit does. It goes down the hall, up the stairs and onto the sofa with the dog. On the newer estates the carpet is builder grade with a short pile in a light colour, which shows it immediately, and the hall, stairs and landing run takes the concentrated traffic of the whole house rather than spreading it around.
Chilwell sits in NG9, under Broxtowe Borough Council. The housing here is mostly interwar and postwar semis, with newer estates around Toton Lane and the tram park and ride, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Chilwell carpet & upholstery cleaning jobs
Drying is the part that catches people out in the newer houses. They are built tight, with trickle vents and a bathroom extractor doing most of the air changes, so a carpet that would dry in three hours in a draughty older semi can still feel cool at bedtime here. We use lower moisture and more dry passes, open what can be opened and leave air moving. Protective tabs stay under furniture legs for a full day, because a metal sofa foot on damp pile leaves a rust mark that outlasts the stain you booked us for.
How a Chilwell carpet & upholstery cleaning job actually runs
Two different carpets exist in Chilwell and they want different handling. The older semis usually have wool twist, often on the stairs where it has been down for decades, and the newer houses have a man made pile in a pale colour. Wool holds water, dries slowly and will not take a bleach based spotter. Polypropylene tolerates almost anything chemically and fails a different way, by flattening under traffic until it looks worn when it is only crushed. Layout matters as much as fibre does. A straight flight in a newer house runs with a stair tool in one continuous sequence, whereas a 1930s staircase turns at the bottom onto winders and every tapered tread is hand work with the small head. Access is the easy part. Almost every property has a drive, so the van stands close and the hose run in through the front door is short, which keeps the water hot where it matters, at the wand. We need one indoor socket and either a kitchen tap or an outside tap to fill from.
Who books it here
Regular domestic cleaning in the semis, and after builders cleans on the newer developments around Toton Lane, where extensions and loft conversions are common.
We run Chilwell on the same round as Beeston, Stapleford and Clifton.
What we check on every Chilwell job
Before anything wet, the fibre is identified and a colourfast test goes on somewhere a door normally covers. Wool gets a lower temperature and a neutral pre spray, man made pile takes a stronger one with longer dwell. On the stairs the gripper rods at both ends of the flight get checked, because a loose edge over damp underlay is a trip hazard rather than a cleaning fault, and the seam tape across doorway thresholds is checked too, since that lifts if a carpet is over wetted. On upholstery the care label comes first and then the fill. The big corner suites in these open plan rooms mostly have feather wrapped seat cushions, and those go low moisture, get plumped and stand on edge to dry. Rugs laid over fitted carpet come up and are cleaned separately, because a rug backing left down on a damp carpet marks both of them.
What the carpet & upholstery cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Carpets: Agitation with a brush or rotary tool
- Carpets: Pile groomed, protective tabs under furniture legs
- Upholstery: Embedded hair lifted with a rubber brush
- Also covered: Stairs and landings, priced separately because they are slow and cannot be done with a standard wand
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full carpet & upholstery cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Chilwell property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 8.
What carpet & upholstery cleaning costs in Chilwell
Hot water extraction, priced by room or by property. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
| Property | Typical one-off |

| Single room | £35 to £60 |
| Hallway, stairs and landing | £45 to £85 |
| 2 bed flat, throughout | £75 to £175 |

| Mattress clean | £30 to £60 |
| Pet urine treatment, per spot | £15 to £40 |
| Rug, per square metre | £8 to £20 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Can you get lake silt out of a light carpet?
Usually, but it needs a pre-spray with real dwell time rather than a quick pass. The silt bonds to the fibre instead of sitting on top of it, which is exactly why vacuuming leaves the carpet looking flat and grey. Where it has been walked in across a whole winter, expect a clear improvement rather than a carpet that looks like new.
The dog is in the lake most days. Is there any point cleaning until spring?
There is, but book realistically. Twice a year suits a Chilwell house that walks the reserve daily, once after the winter and once in autumn. Between those, a barrier mat inside the front door and a towel kept by the back door do more for the pile than an extra visit from us would.
The stairs are the original wool and the lounge carpet is new. Same treatment?
No, and it is worth flagging at the booking stage. Wool is cleaned cooler, with a neutral product, less water and more dry passes, because a wool pile left wet can brown along the tips as the natural colour wicks up the fibre. The newer lounge pile takes a hotter, stronger pre spray and dries considerably faster. We do both in the same visit, but the slow drying room goes first so it has the whole day.
Where do you get water and power from?
A kitchen tap or an outside tap, and one ordinary socket indoors. The machine stays in the van on the drive and only the hoses come inside, over a mat through the front door, so nothing heavy is carried through the house. If a car has to stay on the drive, tell us first. A hose has a working length, and a van parked out on the close means a longer run and a cooler solution arriving at the carpet.
Do you cover the whole of Chilwell?
Yes, all of NG9 and the surrounding streets, under Broxtowe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does carpet & upholstery cleaning cost in Chilwell?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the room count, whether stairs are included, the fibre type, and whether there is pet urine to treat. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start carpet & upholstery cleaning in Chilwell?
Within a week usually, and we would rather do it alongside a deep clean than as a separate visit. Drives on most properties, and we group Chilwell with Beeston, Stapleford and Clifton on the rota.
